Term 4 enrolments are now open at Sussex Neighbourhood House, with new creative classes, social activities, and learning opportunities joining our returning favourites.
Many programs have limited spaces, so we encourage you to book early. If a class reaches capacity, additional registrations will be added to a waitlist.

New Term 4 Programs
Friday Friendly Watercolour
Explore drawing and watercolour techniques in a relaxed, practical class with tutor Jun Liu. Through demonstrations and individual guidance, participants will develop skills in colour, tone, composition, and watercolour technique while building confidence in their own creative style.
When: Fridays, 10am to 12pm

Sew Your Style
Learn the essentials of sewing, from setting up a sewing machine and creating different seams to completing simple projects. By the end of the term, participants will have developed a portfolio of techiques and created items including a scrunchie, tote bag, placemat, and apron.
When: Wednesdays, 10am to 12pm

Game On
A relaxed gaming group for young people aged 15-20. Bring your friends, meet new people, and enjoy competitive games across Nintendo Switch, PC, and tabletop platforms.
Games include Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros, Catan, chess, and more.
When: Thursdays, 4:30 to 6:30pm
T4 Dates: 8 october to 3 December
Ages: 15-20 years
Let’s Shoot: Introduction to Screen and Media
Discover what goes into producing a film or media project. Across six weeks, participants will explore cinematography, editing, sound mixing, animation, and post production.
The course will introduce different production roles, including lighting supervisor, sound technician, gaffer, and videographer. Participants will also have the opportunity to produce their own short media piece.
When: Mondays, 6:30pm to 8pm

Youth Art Mural
Sponsored by Yarra Valley Water
Join us in bringing colour and creativity to Sussex NH! Over two days, local youth will transform our courtyard wall into a vibrant mural featuring two concepts around the theme of Water, inspired by the local Westbreen Creek and wildlife.
When: Tuesday 29th & Wednesday 30 September 11am to 4pm

Game On
Bring your mates, meet new people and battle it out or team up across Nintendo Switch, PC and tabletop games. Game On is a gaming group for young people aged 15–20. The group provides a relaxed space to hang out with friends and connect with others through shared gaming interests. Games include a mix of competitive and cooperative games across Nintendo Switch and PC, including Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros, alongside tabletop games such as Catan, Connect 4 and chess. Participants can bring friends and are encouraged to play, collaborate, compete and socialise.
When: Tuesday 29th September Midday to 2pm

Movie Day
The Computer Lab will transform into a relaxed movie theatre. A movie will be chosen from our library collection and will be suitable for all ages, young and old. The community space is warm and inviting, and if you need a break from the movie, simple craft and colouring in will be available.

Term 4 Workshops
Lunch & Learn
Learn digital basics in a free, relaxed setting with the help of friendly high school student mentors.
Bring your own device or use one of ours to practise skills such as texting, using apps, and staying safe online. A free light lunch is included.
When: Tuesday 20 October, 11am to 1pm

First Aid Certificate Level 2 & CPR
This course teaches the skills and knowledge required to recognise and respond to life-threatening emergencies and provide a first aid response to a casualty in a range of situations. A must for people working with or alongside people

Christmas Treat Baking
Join our amazing volunteer Helen Carr for a festive baking session filled with delicious Christmas treats. Following the success of Helen’s scone-making class, she’s back in the kitchen this term to share more of her baking skills and festive favourites.

Making Christmas Presents from the Garden
Get creative this Christmas and make thoughtful gifts using plants and materials from the garden. This hands-on session will explore simple ideas for turning garden treasures into unique homemade presents. A fun and sustainable way to create something special for family and friends.
