SNH Honoured as Finalists in Two Awards

We are incredibly proud and humbled to share that Sussex Neighbourhood House has been named as a finalist in two amazing awards, recognising our dedication to lifelong learning and sustainability.

ACFE Learn Local Awards 2024 – Leadership Award Finalist
Our very own Administration Officer, Huma Mittro, was nominated for the Leadership Award at the ACFE (Adult Community and Further Education) Learn Local Awards. This nomination highlights the invaluable support she has provided to other Neighbourhood Houses, as well as the welcoming and inclusive space she creates for learners of all backgrounds. Her commitment to cultivating an environment where people feel supported and encouraged in their educational journey is truly inspiring, and we are thrilled to see her efforts recognised on such a platform.

Neighbourhood Houses Victoria 2024 Awards – Climate Change Category Finalist
Sustainability has long been at the heart of our work, and we are honoured to be a finalist in the Climate Change category at the Neighbourhood Houses Victoria 2024 Awards. This recognition celebrates our ongoing initiatives, including:

• Pascoe Vale Food Collective – Our auspice providing access to affordable, sustainable food while reducing packaging waste.
• Pascoe Vale Repair Cafe – Encouraging the community to repair rather than discard, reducing landfill and promoting skills-sharing.
• Recycling Collections – Offering a collection point for hard-to-recycle items such as bottle lids, coffee capsules, and other materials to support a circular economy.

Being acknowledged for our sustainability efforts reaffirms the importance of community-driven action in tackling climate change. We are proud of what we have achieved together and remain committed to making a positive environmental impact.
