Harmony Week Garden Party & Peace Pole Unveiling | Open to Everyone

5 March 2026
category: events, whats-on

Sussex Neighbourhood House is inviting the community to gather in the garden for a special Harmony Week Garden Party, celebrating diversity, connection, and the shared spirit that make our community strong. The event will also mark the unveiling of a new Peace Pole, a global symbol of peace and unity that will become a permanent feature of the Sussex garden.

Peace Poles are internationally recognised symbols that carry a simple but powerful message: “May Peace Prevail on Earth”. Installed in communities around the world, they serve as a reminder of our shared hope for peace, kindness, and understanding across cultures and generations.

To mark the occasion, we’re hosting a relaxed garden gathering filled with music, food, and good company. It’s a chance for our community to come together, spend time outdoors, and celebrate the spirit of Harmony Week.

Everyone is welcome to this free event, and we encourage you to bring a friend, neighbour, or family member along to share in the celebration.

Community Partnership

This project would not have been possible without the generous support of the Rotarians from the Rotary Club of Pascoe Vale, who funded and helped bring the Peace Pole project to SNH.

We would also like to extend a special thank you to Deborah & Bruno D’Aprano for their guidance and support throughout the project.

Join Us

Harmony Week is about celebrating the cultural diversity that makes our community stronger. We hope you’ll join us in the garden to celebrate peace, connection, and the vibrant community that makes Sussex such a special place.

What Harmony Week Means at Sussex

Harmony Week is a time to celebrate the diverse cultures, languages, and stories that make our community stronger.

At Sussex Neighbourhood House, we see this diversity every day through our programs, volunteers, tutors, and the many people who walk through our doors. From shared meals and creative workshops to gardening, music, and learning together, Sussex is a place where people from different backgrounds can connect and feel welcome.

Our Harmony Week Garden Party is a chance to celebrate that spirit together with music, food, and the unveiling of a Peace Pole that reflects the values our community shares.
