category: courses, groups, whats-on

Are you looking for an inclusive gaming group in Melbourne for girls aged 8-12?

Sussex Neighbourhood House is proud to introduce Gaming Bugs for Term 3, a neuro-affirming social program designed especially for girls in Years 3-6, including those who are neurodivergent.

This unique program offers a fun, supportive space where girls can connect through their shared love of video games. Whether your child is an avid Minecraft builder, a Roblox adventurer, or just beginning their gaming journey, Gaming Bugs provides the perfect setting to play, learn, and belong.

What Makes Gaming Bugs Different?

Gaming Bugs is more than just screen time, itโ€™s a carefully curated social experience with a focus on:

  • ๐ŸŽฎ Age-appropriate gaming using personal devices or our on-site computer lab

  • ๐Ÿค Peer connection and communication, supported by facilitators using inclusive practice

  • ๐ŸŒˆ Sensory-aware spaces designed to accommodate a range of needs and preferences

  • ๐Ÿง  Skill-building in online safety, collaboration, and respectful digital play

Our neuro-affirming approach celebrates every childโ€™s unique way of thinking and interacting with the world. We foster a space where all players feel safe, seen, and supported.

Why Gaming for Girls?

In a world where online gaming is often male-dominated, Gaming Bugs provides a rare opportunity for girls to develop confidence and digital literacy in a girl-focused, low-pressure environment. The program encourages teamwork, problem-solving, and creativity all while honouring different social styles and communication preferences.

We particularly welcome girls who are neurodivergent, and structure each session to be flexible, predictable, and empowering.
