This September, Sussex Neighbourhood House is excited to be part of Youth Fest 2025, celebrating the energy, creativity, and voices of young people in our community. We’re hosting two free events designed to bring people together, spark imagination, and provide a space for connection.
Step into a friendly and social gaming space, complete with multiple consoles and PC setups. Try out favourites like Minecraft, Fortnite, Mario Kart and more. Whether you’re playing solo or with friends, this is the perfect chance to meet new people and share a love of gaming in a relaxed environment. Parents are welcome to stay in the Hub, where tea, coffee, and free Wi-Fi will be available.

Help bring a co-designed mural to life! Led by our Youth Art Space participants, this two-day mural project highlights diversity, inclusivity, and the unique spirit of Pascoe Vale. Local young people are invited to pick up a brush, add their creative touch, and be part of an artwork that will become a lasting feature of our community courtyard. It’s about collaboration, self-expression, and making your mark on a shared space.

Looking after your health doesn’t have to be complicated, and sometimes it starts with a simple chat over a warm drink. That’s exactly what our Cuppa & Care sessions are all about.
One the third Friday of each month at 10:30am, you’re invited to join us for a relaxed, welcoming space where you can meet with a local pharmacist, ask questions, share concerns, and pick up practical health tips tailored to everyday life. Each session focuses on a different theme, giving you the chance to learn something new and take away advice that matters to you.

Every gardener knows the two essentials: good tools and great tomatoes. Whether you’re brand new to gardening or a seasoned green thumb, our Tools & Tomatoes Workshop will give you the skills and confidence to keep your garden thriving.
Bring your secateurs, clippers, spades, or any small garden tools that need a little love. In this hands-on session, you’ll learn:

Tips for maintaining wooden handles and keeping them in great condition.
Tricks to make sure your equipment is always garden-ready.
You’ll also get to try out a variety of tools in our beautiful community garden.
Tomatoes can be tricky, but not anymore! Our experienced gardener has killed plenty (so you don’t have to 😉). Learn which tomatoes to plant, how to help them survive common challenges, and the secrets to getting a bumper crop.
And the best part? You’ll take home your very own tomato plant to nurture and grow!

That flickering lamp? The shirt with a torn seam? The kitchen scissors that won’t cut anymore? Bring them along to the Pascoe Vale Repair Café this Sunday 7 September, 10am-1pm at Sussex Neighbourhood House (7 Prospect St, Pascoe Vale) and we’ll help you give them a second chance.
Our skilled team of volunteer repairers will be available to help with a wide range of household fixes:
1 locksmith & blade sharpener – bring your blunt knives, stiff locks, and garden shears
3 electrical repairers – lamps, appliances, sound equipment, and other electronics
2 general handypeople – for furniture fixes, basic bike repairs, and mechanical items
1 sewing machine operator – for machine-stitched repairs and adjustments
2 hand-menders – perfect for delicate stitching, soft toy repairs, and woollens
Just turn up on the day, no booking needed. Bring your item (plus any parts it might need), and we’ll do our best to help you extend its life.

Looking for a fun way to stay active, meet new people, and enjoy the magic of traditional music? We’re excited to announce the launch of our new Country Scottish Dance program, run in partnership with the local Glenroy Scottish Dance Group.
This lively weekly group is all about connection, movement, and fun. Whether you’ve danced before or are a complete beginner, you’ll feel welcomed as you step into the world of Scottish Country Dancing – a social dance style loved around the world for its joyful music and simple group formations.
Each session begins with a gentle warm-up to music, helping you stretch, balance, and get moving at your own pace. You’ll then learn a few basic steps and formations that build into the lively ceilidh dances (pronounced kay-lee) that make Scottish Country Dancing so special.
Over the term, you’ll be introduced to:
Four core step patterns
Both slow-paced dances (Strathspey) and faster-paced dances (Jig & Reel)
Simple group formations that gradually build to more intricate routines
The emphasis is always on fun and connection – not perfection!
Everyone is welcome! You don’t need a partner or any previous dance experience to take part. Just bring:
Comfortable clothing
A pair of soft shoes
A sense of adventure and a reasonable level of mobility
Scottish Country Dancing is not only a great way to stay active, but it’s also fantastic for making new friends and boosting your wellbeing. You’ll leave each class smiling, feeling energised, and looking forward to the next session.

✔ Tips on pattern-making tools and materials
Who is this class for?
This workshop is designed for people who already know how to sew and want to take their skills to the next level.
Bring along 2-3 simple garments, plus your own tools if you have them. Pattern-making paper will be provided.

Keep your garden healthy and thriving by learning how to identify, prevent, and manage common garden pests. This practical workshop covers everything you need to know, including:
