Creative Writing Workshop Series in Merri-bek | Starts April 18

Have you ever wanted to try creative writing, but didn’t know where to begin?
Our Writing Stories: Term 2 Creative Writing Series is a welcoming, beginner-friendly workshop designed to help you explore your voice, build confidence, and connect with others through writing.
Running across three Saturday sessions, this series introduces different styles of creative writing, from personal storytelling to poetry and short fiction, with guided exercises and supportive facilitation throughout.
Workshop Dates & Topics
Saturday 18 April | Moments in Memoir
Explore creative non-fiction through memory, reflection, and storytelling. Learn how to shape real experiences into meaningful writing using craft, structure, and voice.
Saturday 23 May | Poetry: Memory, Place & Short Forms
Experiment with free verse and short poetic forms like haiku. Discover how imagery, tone, rhythm, and line breaks can bring your writing to life.
Saturday 20 June | Looking at Short Fiction
Build characters, explore story structure, and develop a short piece of fiction with a clear beginning, middle, and end.

About the Facilitators
This series is led by Suzanne Hermanoczki and Lou Smith from Writing Days, local writers, teachers, and experienced workshop facilitators based in Merri-bek.
Together, they bring a thoughtful and encouraging approach to creative writing, helping participants build confidence and explore their ideas in a meaningful way.
